Match Report
Approaching this game we knew it would be a tough one. Some pre-match nerves where clear to see but once that whistle blew them were all forgotten. All the lads tried their best and to be honest that is all myself and Dave could ask for.
It was a good experience for the boys to come up against the very best in there age group and extremely pleasing to see us compete and nearly score.
Some really positive points in the game where seeing our centre backs put in some great tackles, our midfielders continuous running (quote “Dad I’ve got a stitch” Charlie Reed) and our two strikers movement off the ball and on it, so well done!
We did come close to scoring when Owen Seale anticipated a ball over the top but was unfortunately denied by an in-form AFC All-stars goalkeeper. Next time Owen I am sure the keeper won’t save your thunderbolt!
Our other striker Antonio seemed to cover a lot of ground in both games and this is why he was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ by Wayne AFC All-Stars manager. When I asked Antonio how he felt about winning the trophy he replied “I put it down to all the hard work in training and my team mates as without them I wouldn’t have found the space I did. It was a shame to loose but we will only get better in time”. Some very experienced words from such young shoulders.
We may have lost this game however, we need to react in the correct way for our next fixture which I am sure we all will so let’s kick on!
